Elegant FIPSE-7 Banquet – Monday

It is customary for the first FIPSE banquet to take place on Monday night, starting to build connections between past and new participants and their spouses/companions. The FIPSE community is close-knit. This year’s banquet will take place at the fabulous seaside restaurant Akti Ntovil in the Karabournaki section of Kalamaria. Kalamaria is among the most densely populated suburbs in Thessaloniki. For more information on the restaurant, please see HERE.

The bus to the restaurant wil leave the hotel at 7:30 p.m.

Evening in the City - Tuesday

Since FIPSE-2, it has been a tradition for FIPSE participants to leave the conference site and have dinner on their own at a nearby city during one of the evenings. This time, the town is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. This allows them to feel the town’s evening pulse and sample the various dining options. This year, participants wil be transported to the section of Thessaloniki called Ladadika (Λαδάδικα). The Ladadika area, situated near the Port of Thessaloniki, has been one of the city’s most important marketplaces for centuries. Its name originated from the numerous olive oil shops in the area. Nowadays, having undergone gentrification in the 1980s, Ladadika forms the entertainment district of the city, hosting bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and pubs in what used to be old oil stores and merchant warehouses, which spill out into a network of pedestrianized streets and small squares.

Closing FIPSE Banquet and Dance - Wednesday

The Gala Banquet, held on the last evening, serves as the closing event, celebrating the conclusion of the three-day meeting, which featured intense and productive presentations and discussions about the most pressing open problems in Process Systems Engineering.  This year, the banquet will be held at the Makedonia Palace Hotel, where the conference is also taking place. This banquet starts at 7:30 p.m. and always ends when the last participant has no energy left to party anymore.  Live Greek and International music will energize everyone. A traditional dance performance by a local professional group will be followed by a show of FIPSE’s dancing talents. It has become a FIPSE inevitability for everyone to participate, regardless of prior dance experience.
