FIPSE 4 - 2018

This was the fourth in a series of FIPSE conferences, which aimed to look into the big open research and educational challenges in the area of Process Systems Engineering. FIPSE-4 took place in June 25-27, 2017 in Chalkidiki, Greece.

The 2018 conference was held at the Porto Carras Meliton Resort in Chalkidiki.

The first two FIPSE conferences were by invitation only. FIPSE-4 was open to all. However, there was a limit of 50 registrants.

Pre-Conference Tour

On Sunday, June 24, 2018, there was an optional cultural excursion to Pella, where the tomb of Philip II—King of Macedon and father of Alexander the Great—was fully discovered in 2006.

Discussion of Open Problems

Each day, in the second half of the MORNING session, six (6) additional 5-minute presentations were made by selected conference participants. Presenters were selected by the session organizer from the registrants’ input on their definition of Open Problems that needed to be discussed at the conference.

During the afternoon session, well-structured breakout groups refined the definition of the Open Problems in a concrete way as to facilitate the drafting of a white paper describing the findings of the day.
