The Georgakis Innovation Awards

In the spring of 2025, the FIPSE trustees established two Innovation Awards for FIPSE presentations. These awards honor Professor Christos Georgakis, FIPSE President Emeritus, who conceived and developed this unique conference emphasizing innovative directions in Process Systems Engineering research. The vision for this conference was formed during two sabbaticals at RWTH in Aachen, Germany (Fall 2010) and at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland (Spring 2011), through discussions with Professor W. Marquardt and D. Bonvin.

The two FIPSE awards are:

  • The Young Researcher Christos Georgakis Innovation Award

  • The Christos Georgakis Research Innovation Award

The first award will recognize outstanding young members of the PSE community who, through their submitted papers and presentations at the FIPSE conference, propose innovative research directions that can significantly impact the future of PSE.

The second award will recognize senior members of the PSE community invited to present at the conference who have an established record of research innovation in PSE.

One or both awards, at the discretion of the FIPSE Trustees, will be presented at the FIPSE conference.
